Do you read me?

Things I've been reading, observing, pondering this month.

I’ve been INSPIRED by Sihaam’s wonderful Web Weaving spirals and thought I would start documenting some of the bits and pieces that have caught my attention over the month.

This month I’ve unintentionally found myself deep in books about meaning-making. I’m working on a bigger piece around world building (watch this space!!), and have subconsciously gravitated towards texts that unpack how symbols, images and myths produce meaning, especially when you look at them through a modern brand lens.

These books all seem to split into a kind of lineage. On one end, you’ve got the foundations; Mythologies, which centres on the idea that everyday culture is code, nothing is neutral and everything is carrying a story about power, identity, and ideology. Then books like CAPS LOCK build on that, looking at how symbols operate within systems; how design, branding and visual language shape how we understand the world, often without us realising.
